Ingredients

  • For the Toast:
  • 2 slices of bread thick-cut works best
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup shredded cheese cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite blend
  • Butter or mayonnaise for spreading
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional Add-Ins:
  • Fresh spinach or sliced tomatoes
  • Crumbled feta
  • Mashed avocado or chili flakes

Instructions

  • Prepare the Bread:
  • Spread butter or mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread. This helps it toast beautifully and gives a golden, crisp texture.
  • Create a Well for the Egg:
  • Using the back of a spoon, press down gently in the center of each slice to make a shallow well. This will hold the egg in place.
  • Add Cheese and Egg:
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese around the edges, then carefully crack an egg into the center of each slice.
  • Season and Customize:
  • Sprinkle with salt, pepper, or your favorite seasonings. Add optional toppings like spinach, tomatoes.
  • Air Fry to Perfection:
  • Place the prepared toast in the air fryer basket. Cook at 370°F (188°C) for 6–8 minutes, depending on your preferred egg doneness.
  • For a runny yolk: about 6 minutes.
  • For a firm yolk: closer to 8 minutes.
  • Serve and Enjoy:
  • Remove from the air fryer and let cool for 1–2 minutes. The bread will be crisp, the cheese perfectly melted, and the egg just right.

Notes

  • Use thick or slightly stale bread to prevent sogginess.
  • Preheat your air fryer for best results.
  • Keep an eye on the last minute of cooking — every air fryer cooks differently.
  • Add fresh herbs, avocado, or a drizzle of hot sauce before serving for extra flavor.
