Cook the Apples
Peel, core, and dice apples.
In a small pan, sauté apples in a little butter or coconut oil.
Add cinnamon and nutmeg.
Cook until tender but still slightly firm.
Cook the Oats
Add oats, milk, water, and salt to a saucepan.
Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat.
Cook until creamy:
Rolled oats: 5–10 minutes
Steel-cut oats: 20–30 minutes
Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
Combine
Stir cooked apples into the oats.
Add vanilla extract and sweetener of choice.
Mix until flavors are fully combined.
Serve
Spoon into bowls.
Add nuts, dried fruit, yogurt, or extra sweetener if desired.
