Ingredients

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice or lime juice
  • 1 small garlic clove
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional additions
  • 1 tablespoon Greek yogurt or mayonnaise for extra creaminess
  • Fresh cilantro or parsley
  • A pinch of smoked paprika

Instructions

  • Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a blender or food processor.
  • Add olive oil, lemon or lime juice, garlic, salt, and black pepper.
  • Blend until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.
  • If the spread is too thick, add a small splash of water or additional olive oil and blend again.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning with extra salt or citrus juice if needed.
  • Transfer to a bowl or jar and chill for 10–15 minutes before serving for best flavor.

Notes

  • Use a fully ripe avocado for the creamiest texture.
  • Citrus juice helps prevent browning and enhances the flavor.
  • Blend thoroughly so the spread becomes completely smooth.
  • Store with plastic wrap pressed against the surface to slow oxidation.
