Ingredients

  • Base Ingredients
  • 9 cups Rice or Corn Chex cereal
  • 1 cup semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • Festive Add-Ins Optional
  • Red and green M&M’s
  • Mini pretzels for a salty crunch
  • Crushed peppermint candies for a wintery touch
  • Holiday sprinkles for a cheerful finish

Instructions

  • Step 1 – Melt the Chocolate Mixture
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth. Stir in vanilla extract.
  • 💡 Tip: Melt slowly to avoid seizing or burning the chocolate.
  • Step 2 – Coat the Cereal
  • Pour cereal into a large bowl. Gently fold in the chocolate mixture until every piece is coated. Take care not to crush the cereal.
  • Step 3 – Add Powdered Sugar
  • Transfer coated cereal into a large zip-top bag. Add powdered sugar, seal tightly, and shake until each piece is fully covered in a snowy coating.
  • Step 4 – Add Holiday Flair
  • Spread the mixture on parchment paper to cool. Mix in festive candies, sprinkles, or crushed peppermint. For faster firming, chill 15 minutes in the fridge.
  • Step 5 – Serve or Gift
  • Store in airtight containers at room temperature for up to a week. Package in mason jars, tins, or clear bags for thoughtful gifts.

Notes

  • Nut-free: Use sunflower seed butter or cookie butter instead of peanut butter
  • Dairy-free: Choose dairy-free chocolate chips and plant-based butter
  • Chocolate swap: White chocolate for Peppermint Bark Puppy Chow
  • Always use fresh cereal for maximum crunch
