  • 4 cups Fresh Blackberries Use ripe blackberries for the best flavor.
  • 2-3 cups Sugar Adjust based on your taste preference.
  • 1-2 TBSP Lemon Juice Adds brightness and balances sweetness.
  • 1 pinch Salt Enhances flavors.

Preparation

  • Rinse your blackberries under cool water, gently removing any stems or leaves.

Cooking

  • In a large pot, use a potato masher or fork to crush the blackberries to a chunky consistency.
  • Add sugar, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt to the crushed berries.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  • Allow the mixture to boil gently for about 20-30 minutes, stirring frequently until it thickens.
  • To check consistency, place a small spoonful on a plate and let it cool; if it holds its shape, it's ready.
  • Once done, remove the pot from heat and let it cool for a few minutes before pouring the jam into sterilized jars.
  • Wipe the rims clean before sealing and allow them to cool to room temperature.

Notes

Use ripe blackberries for sweeter jam, sterilize jars to ensure longevity, do not skip lemon juice, and taste as you go.
