Ingredients

  • 1 large crusty loaf of bread sourdough or French bread
  • 1 stick ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic finely minced
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese optional
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley fresh or dried
  • A pinch of salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Step 1 – Preheat the Oven
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with foil.
  • Step 2 – Slice the Bread
  • Using a serrated knife, cut the loaf diagonally in both directions to make a crisscross pattern. Keep the bottom intact so the bread stays together.
  • Step 3 – Make the Garlic Butter
  • Mix melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Stir well.
  • Step 4 – Fill the Loaf
  • Gently separate the bread cubes and brush the garlic butter into every crevice.
  • Stuff shredded mozzarella and cheddar between each cut for even cheesy coverage.
  • Step 5 – Bake Until Golden
  • Wrap the loaf loosely in foil and bake for 15 minutes.
  • Then uncover and bake another 10 minutes, until the top is golden and crisp.
  • Step 6 – Serve and Enjoy
  • Serve warm — the cheese should be perfectly melted and stretchy.

Notes

  • Use freshly grated cheese for a creamier melt.
  • Don’t overbake — keep it soft inside.
  • Serve right away for the best cheesy texture.
  • To reheat, wrap in foil and warm in the oven at 350°F for 10 minutes.
