Ingredients

  • Wet Ingredients:
  • 3 ripe bananas mashed
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted (or coconut oil)
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Dry Ingredients:
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Add-ins:
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips plus extra for topping
  • Optional Variations:
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder for double chocolate
  • ¼ cup Greek yogurt or applesauce for a lighter version

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
  • Mash bananas in a large bowl until mostly smooth.
  • Mix wet ingredients: Add melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Stir until combined.
  • Combine dry ingredients: In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Mix everything together: Gently fold dry mixture into wet until just combined.
  • Add chocolate chips: Fold in ¾ of the chips, reserving some for the top.
  • Pour and bake: Spread batter evenly in the pan. Top with remaining chips.
  • Bake for 55–60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool & serve: Let it rest 10 minutes in the pan, then cool on a wire rack. Slice & enjoy warm!

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas for sweetness and moisture.
  • Don’t overmix—stop when the flour disappears.
  • Sprinkle sea salt on top before baking for an elevated flavor.
  • Store airtight at room temp (3 days) or freeze up to 3 months.
