Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it is at room temperature.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg Use at room temperature.

Mix-Ins

  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup crushed Oreos

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, mixing until fully combined.
  • Gradually fold in the dry mixture until just combined.
  • Gently stir in the chocolate chips and crushed Oreos.

Baking

  • Using a cookie scoop or spoon, drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the edges look set.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

Notes

For chewier cookies, chill your dough for about 30 minutes before baking. You can substitute chocolate chips for white chocolate or peanut butter chips for variation.
