Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef 85/15 lean
  • 1 small green cabbage shredded
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or cooking oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: red pepper flakes or sriracha for heat
  • Green onions sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  • Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same pan, add more oil if needed. Sauté chopped onion and garlic until fragrant.
  • Add shredded cabbage and stir-fry for 5–7 minutes, until slightly tender but still crisp.
  • Return beef to the skillet. Add soy sauce and sesame oil. Stir well to combine.
  • Cook together for 2–3 more minutes to let flavors meld.
  • Garnish with green onions and optional red pepper flakes or sriracha. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Swap beef for ground turkey, chicken, or plant-based meat for variations.
  • Add bell peppers, carrots, or mushrooms for more veggies.
  • Use hoisin sauce or rice vinegar for a different flavor profile.
  • Bagged coleslaw mix is a great shortcut.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days; reheat in a skillet or microwave.
  • For a keto version, use coconut aminos instead of soy sauce.
