Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose or bread flour
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Garlic Parmesan Herb Topping:
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter softened
  • 3 cloves garlic minced (or 1 tsp garlic powder)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp dried herbs oregano, thyme, or rosemary
  • Fresh parsley for garnish optional
  • Optional Enhancements:
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • Chili flakes
  • Olive oil for brushing

Instructions
 

  • Activate the yeast: Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  • Make the dough: Mix flour and salt, then gradually add the yeast mixture. Knead 8–10 minutes until smooth.
  • First rise: Cover and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, until doubled.
  • Shape the loaf: Punch down the dough and shape into a loaf or rolls. Place on a greased or parchment-lined tray.
  • Prepare topping: Mix butter, garlic, and herbs. Spread evenly over the dough and top with Parmesan. Add optional toppings if desired.
  • Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 20–25 minutes, until golden brown.
  • Finish: Brush with melted butter or olive oil while warm. Cool slightly before slicing.
