Ingredients
  

  • Basic Ingredients:
  • 12 oz 340 g fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup orange juice
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • Optional Add-Ins:
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon or nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Cranberries: Rinse cranberries and discard any soft or shriveled ones.
  • Combine the Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, add cranberries, sugar, orange juice, and water. Stir to combine.
  • Simmer the Sauce: Cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cranberries pop and the mixture thickens.
  • Taste and Adjust: Add more sugar, honey, or maple syrup to taste. Thin with a bit of juice or water if needed.
  • Cool and Store: Let cool completely, then store in a sealed jar in the fridge for up to 7 days or freeze up to 3 months.

  • The sauce thickens more as it cools — avoid overcooking.
