Ingredients

  • 6 mozzarella string cheese sticks cut in half
  • 2 cups Flamin’ Hot Cheetos crushed into fine crumbs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • Oil for frying canola or vegetable
  • Optional Add-ins:
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder or paprika
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • Dipping sauces: marinara ranch, spicy mayo, garlic aioli

Instructions

  • Crush the Cheetos
  • Place Flamin’ Hot Cheetos in a zip-top bag and crush with a rolling pin (or use a food processor) until finely ground.
  • Set Up Breading Station
  • In one bowl: flour.
  • In second bowl: whisk egg with milk.
  • In third bowl: crushed Cheetos (mix in optional spices/cheese if using).
  • Coat the Cheese Sticks
  • Roll each cheese stick in flour, dip in egg wash, then coat in Cheeto crumbs. For extra crunch, repeat the egg and Cheeto steps.
  • Freeze
  • Place coated sticks on parchment-lined tray and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
  • Cook (choose one method):
  • Fry: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry sticks for 1–2 minutes until golden and crispy.
  • Air Fry: Preheat to 390°F (200°C). Spray sticks lightly with oil and cook for 6–8 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Bake: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place sticks on baking sheet, spray with oil, and bake for 8–10 minutes until golden.
  • Serve Hot with your favorite dips!

Notes

  • Freezing is essential to prevent cheese from leaking.
  • Crush Cheetos very finely for the best coating.
  • Use fresh oil for frying for the cleanest flavor.
  • Store uncooked, coated sticks in freezer up to 2 months. Fry or air fry straight from frozen.
  • Reheat leftovers in air fryer or oven to maintain crispiness.
