Ingredients

  • For the Pie Crust:
  • 2 pie crusts store-bought or homemade
  • For the Apple Filling:
  • 5–6 medium apples Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or your favorite variety
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons flour or cornstarch to thicken the filling
  • For the Salted Caramel Topping:
  • ½ cup salted caramel sauce store-bought or homemade
  • Optional: a pinch of sea salt for extra flavor
  • Optional Add-Ons:
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter for brushing the crust

Instructions

  • Prepare the Apples:
  • Peel, core, and slice the apples evenly.
  • In a large bowl, toss them with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour (or cornstarch) until well coated.
  • Assemble the Pie:
  • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Place one pie crust into your pie pan.
  • Pour the apple filling evenly into the crust and drizzle a few tablespoons of salted caramel over the apples.
  • Cover with the second crust or create a lattice top. Seal the edges by pressing with a fork or pinching with your fingers.
  • Cut a few small slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  • Bake the Pie:
  • Bake for 45–50 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  • If the edges start to brown too quickly, cover them with foil halfway through baking.
  • Add the Finishing Touch:
  • Once baked, let the pie cool for about 15–20 minutes.
  • Drizzle the remaining salted caramel over the top and sprinkle lightly with sea salt for a sweet-salty finish.

Notes

  • You can make this pie vegan by using plant-based butter and coconut cream-based caramel.
  • For a lower-sugar version, reduce sugar or use a natural sweetener.
  • Best apples for baking: Granny SmithHoneycrisp, or a mix for balanced flavor.
