- For the Pie Crust:
- 2 pie crusts store-bought or homemade
- For the Apple Filling:
- 5–6 medium apples Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or your favorite variety
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons flour or cornstarch to thicken the filling
- For the Salted Caramel Topping:
- ½ cup salted caramel sauce store-bought or homemade
- Optional: a pinch of sea salt for extra flavor
- Optional Add-Ons:
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ cup chopped pecans or walnuts
- 1 tablespoon melted butter for brushing the crust
Prepare the Apples:
Peel, core, and slice the apples evenly.
In a large bowl, toss them with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour (or cornstarch) until well coated.
Assemble the Pie:
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
Place one pie crust into your pie pan.
Pour the apple filling evenly into the crust and drizzle a few tablespoons of salted caramel over the apples.
Cover with the second crust or create a lattice top. Seal the edges by pressing with a fork or pinching with your fingers.
Cut a few small slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
Bake the Pie:
Bake for 45–50 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
If the edges start to brown too quickly, cover them with foil halfway through baking.
Add the Finishing Touch:
Once baked, let the pie cool for about 15–20 minutes.
Drizzle the remaining salted caramel over the top and sprinkle lightly with sea salt for a sweet-salty finish.
