  • ½ cup sugar adjust to taste
  • ¼ cup orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • Pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg optional
  • For the Crostini Base:
  • 1 French baguette sliced thinly
  • Olive oil for brushing
  • Cheese of your choice: goat cheese brie, or cream cheese
  • Fresh rosemary or thyme for garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare the Cranberry Sauce:
  • In a small saucepan, combine cranberries, sugar, orange juice, and zest.
  • Simmer over medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cranberries pop and thicken.
  • Optional: add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for extra warmth.
  • Let cool completely. Sauce will thicken further as it cools.
  • Toast the Crostini:
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet, brush lightly with olive oil.
  • Bake for 6–8 minutes until golden and crisp, flipping halfway through.
  • Assemble the Crostini:
  • Spread a layer of cheese on each slice of bread.
  • Top with cranberry sauce and garnish with a small sprig of rosemary or thyme.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use fresh cranberries for brighter color and flavor.
  • Balance sweetness — taste your sauce and adjust sugar if needed.
  • Serve at room temperature to let flavors meld.
  • Experiment with cheeses: tangy goat cheese, creamy brie, or smooth cream cheese.
  • Make cranberry sauce ahead of time for convenience; assemble just before serving.
