Meat and Sauce Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground meat Italian sausage, beef, or a mix.
  • 24 oz Tomato sauce Store-bought or homemade.

Herbs and Spices

  • 1 tsp Oregano
  • 1 tsp Basil
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare your baking dish by lightly greasing it.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, brown your ground meat until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat, then add your tomato sauce. Let it simmer, allowing the flavors to blend.

  • If you’re using traditional noodles, cook them according to package instructions.

Layering and Baking

  • Spread a thin layer of meat sauce at the bottom of your baking dish.
  • Layer with noodles, followed by the ricotta mixture, mozzarella cheese, and more meat sauce. Repeat layers until you reach the top of the dish.
  • Finish with a generous layer of mozzarella and some extra Parmesan.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Allow to sit for at least 15 minutes before cutting for better serving results.
