- For the Dough:
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 packet 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 cup warm water about 110°F
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- For the Topping:
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic finely minced
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian herbs oregano, thyme, or rosemary
- Sea salt for sprinkling
Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
Make Dough: Combine flour and salt in a large bowl. Add yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix and knead 8–10 minutes until smooth.
First Rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Shape Dough: Transfer to a greased 9x13-inch pan. Press gently into shape and create dimples with your fingers.
Prepare Topping: Warm olive oil in a pan, sauté garlic for 1 minute. Brush over dough, then sprinkle Parmesan, herbs, and sea salt.
Bake: Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes or until golden and crisp on the edges.
Serve: Let cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm with dips, pasta, or soup.
-
For extra crispiness, preheat the pan before adding dough.
-
Don’t skip the dimples — they help absorb flavor evenly.
-
You can top with caramelized onions or sun-dried tomatoes for a twist.
