This oven strawberry French toast is a baked, easy breakfast made with soft custard-soaked bread and fresh strawberries. Perfect for brunch or holidays, this make-ahead recipe is rich, comforting, and ideal for feeding a crowd.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 loaf bread brioche, challah, or thick-cut, cubed or sliced
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries sliced
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: maple syrup for serving

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 baking dish.
  • Arrange bread evenly in the dish.
  • Sprinkle sliced strawberries over the bread.
  • In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Pour mixture evenly over bread and press lightly to soak.
  • Let sit for 10–15 minutes.
  • Bake for 40–45 minutes until set and golden.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.
  • Serve with maple syrup and toppings as desired.

Notes

  • Use slightly stale bread for best texture.
  • Do not skip soaking time for even custard absorption.
  • Avoid overloading with strawberries to prevent excess moisture.
  • Bake until center is fully set.
  • Can be prepared ahead and baked later.
