Total Time 20 minutes mins
- 1 lb steak sirloin, ribeye, or strip, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tbsp soy sauce or tamari for gluten-free
- 2 tbsp brown sugar or honey
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger grated
- 1–2 tbsp olive oil or butter for searing
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional Toppings:
- Red pepper flakes for heat
- Sesame seeds for crunch
- Chopped green onions for garnish
Prep the Steak – Pat steak dry and season lightly with salt and pepper.
Sear the Steak – Heat oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add steak in a single layer and sear 2–3 minutes per side until browned. Cook in batches if necessary. Remove steak and set aside.
Make the Sticky Sauce – In the same pan, reduce heat slightly. Add garlic and ginger, cooking until fragrant. Stir in soy sauce and brown sugar or honey. Simmer for 1–2 minutes until thickened.
Combine & Finish – Return steak to the pan and toss to coat in the sauce. Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve hot.
-
Don’t overcrowd the skillet – cook in batches for best sear.
-
Adjust sweetness or saltiness to your taste before adding steak back in.
-
Reheat leftovers with a splash of water in the pan to loosen the sauce.
-
Great with rice, noodles, or veggies – or serve with toothpicks as an appetizer.
