Ingredients

  • Dry Ingredients
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Special Add-Ins
  • ¾ cup white chocolate chips
  • ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup crushed candy canes or peppermint pieces
  • Optional: ¼ cup shredded coconut or white sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare the Workspace
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Step 2: Cream the Butter and Sugars
  • In a large bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Step 3: Add the Eggs and Vanilla
  • Mix in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  • Step 4: Combine Dry and Wet Mixtures
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture and stir until combined.
  • Step 5: Add the Magic
  • Fold in both types of chocolate chips and crushed candy canes. Add coconut or sprinkles if desired.
  • Step 6: Chill the Dough
  • Refrigerate the dough for at least 30 minutes to help control spreading and enhance flavor.
  • Step 7: Bake
  • Scoop dough into 1 ½ tablespoon balls, place on baking sheet, and bake for 9–11 minutes or until the edges are golden and centers look slightly soft.
  • Step 8: Cool and Decorate
  • Let cookies cool for 5 minutes on the pan, then transfer to a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar once cooled for a snowy finish.

Notes

  • Chill the dough: Ensures thicker, chewier cookies.
  • Use mixed chocolate: Combines sweetness and depth.
  • Avoid overbaking: Soft centers mean perfect texture.
  • Decorate creatively: White drizzle or extra peppermint pieces add a festive touch.
